Directions to Marys Lake Lodge from Denver International Airport
Due to flooding in September 2013, the two main routes into Estes Park from the East are closed (Hwy 34 through the Big Thompson Canyon is closed, and bridges are out in Lyons, closing Hwy 36/66 and Hwy 7 through Lyons). Boulder Canyon to Nederland is also closed.
Entrance to Estes Park is from the south via the Peak-to-Peak Scenic Byway through Allenspark and Hwy 7. While this way has some of the most amazing views, it is significantly longer! From I-70 to Estes Park will take approximately two hours in GOOD weather (can we hope for that......can we?)
Take I-70 West to exit 243 for Central City Parkway. Take Central City Parkway to Hwy 119 North. Follow Hwy 119 North (approx. 26 miles) to Hwy 72 in Nederland. Travel through the roundabout in Nederland and take the 4th exit onto CO-72 North. Take CO-72 North for approximately 22 miles until it joins Hwy 7 below Allenspark. Turn left onto Hwy 7 and travel approximately 16 miles to Mary's Lake Road. Turn left onto Mary's Lake Rd.
Estes Park sits at an elevation of 7,500 ft. Altitude sickness can occur as low as 6,500 feet so it is extremely important to drink lots of fluid and not overdo it when you first arrive. Please be cautious when consuming alcohol at this elevation. In October, the average high temperatures are in the upper 50's with the lows in in the mid 30's. There is always the potential for snow!
